Bosch. But if its not available, than Mann.German cars should use german parts IMO.

But if its not available, than Mann.German cars should use german parts IMO.i recently spoke with an old diesel veteran who studied bosch inj pumps in germany when the VW diesel was just emerging. he's been working on them and diesel engines in merc and vw ever since. has a shop down the street from my house now. rebuilds and maintains IDI diesels. dude loves the 1.6TD. he told me that mann is the way to go and that up until recently, bosch was just as good. however, he says the bosch ones are no longer made in germany? or something about how they are made differently now and are no longer the same as the 'old bosch' filters. so he's switched to mann only now. if you get a new bosch filter check to see if its actually made in germany. i'd be interested to know..(he also mentioned that running a fram is like running no oil filter for what thats worth)i trust his experience since he's seen the effects of poor filter use for the past ~30 years as he's rebuilt the victim engines.
