Beware of Fake "Giles Pumps"

Hey everyone
just wanted to relay a little tale that just happened last week
one of our very own members accidently took his VW pump to my
previous place of employment, no need to say the name eh?
well they didn't tell him that Giles had left and assured him that he
would be getting a Giles pump done to his spec's.
well needless to say our well intentioned member had been talking
to DR D. about some other work and told him about the pump being
done at " Sa;fjdljksdf;lajks" and he was looking forward to getting it
back.
Dr D. says u idiot Giles isn't there any more and u'd better go and get
your F*****g pump back right away.
well needless to say it was too late for this poor joe and he ended up
paying the other guy for a performance rebuild when he didn't get one.
he then proceeded to bring the pump to me and look it over.
they had promised a "Giles pump" rebuild and they swore up and down
that it would perform the same too.
i looked at his newly overhauled pump and took it apart to find they had
not done any performance upgrades in any areas of the pump.
well i totally overahauled the pump again giving him a sizeable discount
too.
i did all my good stuff and gave him the pump back.
he hasn't let me know of the result yet but i know he's waiting for some
engine work to be finished first.

There might be some legal action if a prior shop is promising a performance pump and using your name as its selling point.
Perhaps the member who had his pump done there might want to go back and raise holy hell. I would be wanting some money back and perhaps a pound of flesh to go with it.
Wow , thats just crooked. It's ass kicking time!

Yes i forgot to mention that he did go back to "Suksdjflr" and complained
to no end. He got very frustrated and that's when i walked in and made
sure that Dal was not ever going to tell anyone that he was doing
"Giles" pumps any more.
Dal assured me that he had not said anything of the sort. well we all know
that statement was .....true? ..............NOT!!!!!
At that point i left there was no point in saying anymore to DAL
He came back to my new shop and told me that DAL had assured him
there pump would perform the same as mine
enough said.

as long as you are willing to be a slave i guess...
as for the fake performance pump, that is pretty damn dirty man... i'd be taking it to small claims, and have you (Giles) give me a signed affidavit specifying that there were no performance modifications done to the pump like they said there would be.
Giles pumps aren't cheap you know!!!!
edit: pun intended!

Actually they are. The price for a full rebuild in BC from a qualified shop that will actually quote you what it really costs to do a full rebuild and not just a teaser rate to get you in the door isn't much less than a Giles pump.

Just got my Giles pump back(it came with a card that had his picture on it). Installed it on the engine, but the engine is not in the car yet!!!!! Now I just read that 935Racer is not making downpipes anymore. I was waiting to get my pump back first before I order the pipe. Now what do I do??
Also pay attension to what Giles say when shipping from the US, I made a mistake and it cost me $70!!!!!
Looking forward to the swap of my na 1.6 to a turbo super Giles motor.

Just want to let everyone know that I replaced my injection pump on my 86 Golf 1.6 N/A with one from Giles. It is running great!! It did ok before, but it really moves out now  I know it was only 52 hp from the factory, wondering if the new pump gives you more? Seems that way. Seems to rev better too.
Thanks Giles!!
