OK. It's just about that time. I need to put a refresh on the old man's engine. I'm pretty sure it's blowing by at least a little.
I'm not sure we created a comprehensive list, but I'd like to leave no part unturned.
The plan is to send the head and block off to be checked over and have the valves reground if needed. I'll probably keep the pistons and con rods, but other than that, it's new stuff all around. I already got a 3-hole HG from PP as well as a windage tray and the valve cover gasket.
Also, does someone offer a kit that just has it all included? What a pain in the arse to figure it all out.
THanks..
you can always check out vwdieselparts.com jack should have everything you need and is very helpfull
good luck

have you considered going total seal for the oil control rings??? i'm doing that... they should be here soon hopefully!! no more blow-by, and now is the right time to get that done!
I was just going to get an overbore kit from Jack. Are the total seal rings better? Do they come in oversized bore?
They are a gapless ring which supposedly limits blowby to something like 2%, which isn't much.

True, but I suspect that 150Kmi of wear later, they will have more compression than worn standard rings.
I have the total seal gapless seconds in my GMC 383 stroker and I love them I think that they help contribute to my 375 horse 14.6 second and still get 14 mpg with 33x14.50 swampers. depending on cost for the diesel I would say that you cant go wrong with them
later

Where do you get these wonderful rings? :?:
