Stupid fan/heater core issues :(
« on: January 06, 2005, 11:05:14 pm »
Hey everyone;
I had tried to repair my blower fan last week and found out that it was beyond me; I couldn't get it out and then I found out that the heater core was leaking too so I just took it to my local VW Shop and had them replace the fan with a new one and also replace the heater core.
However, now the car seems to have NO heat!! The fan only has 2 speeds (it's supposed to have 3) and the car barely gets above freezing inside even when the engine is at full operating temp. :(

I have to take the car back there next week to get the new fan replaced (we think it's defective what with missing a speed and all  :roll:  ), but I don't get why it's so cold with the new heater core. Do I need that replaced as well? How could I get 2 faulty brand new units at once!?!?  :shock:

Anyway, the old fan was POS but at least I had heat when I drove fast ;). This was also a very expensive job so I want it to be RIGHT!
Any ideas why there doesn't appear to be heat!??!
Thanks!

No worries; I fixed it myself  :P
(Some things were not hooked up properly  :oops:  ).
Too bad I couldn't do the WHOLE job myself; would have saved me a buncha $$  :?
oh well, at least now I have heat ;).

Well, although I have heat; it doesn't seem hot enough. Any ideas? Does the thermostat do anything to affect in-car heat? I am dense about these things; please help ;).

It was -10'c today and I was chilly in there :(.
(It almost felt like I was back in my 74 Bug again! ;)).

Anyway, any ideas are appreciated!
