hello im new and i need help

hello im new to this forum so go easy on me plz  :lol:
ive got hold of a 1600td engine from a 1990 jetta. can an1 tell me the engine code? what gearbox it had and how gears it had?whether its idi or what?i was told they're 80horse standard but can be tuned to 110horse easily. is there any easy way to do this?i know ive to screw the diesel pump in as well as the turbo then fit a merc sprinter intercooler then 2.5 inch exhaust?

i know thats quite a bit of info but i havent got a clue how to do this engine up.
p.s. i dont use mechanics i do it meself so plz dont suggest a mechanic

The Haynes maual will tell you how to ID these parts, the Bentley manual will tell you that, and how to repair or replace them.As a 17 wear old car, there is better than 50/50 chance hte engine or trans is not original anyway.
Chances are not a TDI, so 80 HP should be about right.
