Parting out 87 Jetta in NB
« on: January 04, 2005, 07:44:16 am »
Hey folks,

I'm in the process of tearing down my 87 Jetta after years of good service... have to make room for other projects.

I'm keeping the engine/transmission & front suspension, but everything else is up for grabs. The body has 590 000 kms, but is in relatively good shape. It was painted black last year. Door bottoms are a bit rusty, but presentable. The only noteworthy rust is under the driver's seat... it has been riveted back to gether but the seat does not slide smoothly as the tracks are fastened to funky metal.

Let me know if you need anything!

do you have a 90mm driveaxle flange?  I know you said you were keeping the transmission but perhaps you have another dead tranny lying around somewhere?  I really need one.  Mine has a groove worn in it where it contacts the seal, and I am having to refill the transmission about every other week as all the fluid is leaking out.
88 Jetta TD....sold for $1000, bought an 06 Cobalt, clearing out the diesel jetta stuff now

Mine are pretty much the same, although I only have to top my tranny up every 3 months or so. Mine are "seeping" more than "leaking", but they do have a noticeable groove where the lip of the seal sits. pretty unavoidable after 590k, I guess.

Jeeze, this was over 2 years ago. The only rad I have is out of my 96... the crimps that hold the sides to the core had rusted and it was leaking.
