Today's autocross
« on: May 24, 2004, 07:41:09 pm »
Well, I'll come right out with it. It sucked! For some reason, I was put in the same class as Z06 Corvettes and Turbo AWD subarus. Then, as I lined up for my 2nd (of 4 qualifying) run, it started to piss rain. I finished 2nd last,  (in distinct opposition to 2nd AT last!) and didn't make the cut for the elimination round.  I did manage to beat a gutted, roll-caged mid 90's civic on my first run while it was still dry. Luckily this race doesn't count towards the series i'm registered in. (you know, the one where i'm classed with cars of similar abilities)
I'll post pics a little later.

Hey, that's allright - ya can't win 'em all ya know.  :)

Thank for the update.  I like hearing about the honda at least, make it into a positive.  ;)

Guess when and where it rained more than I've ever seen it rain before during an autocross (with only 1 exception?)  2003 Solo 2 nationals in Topeka Kansas!  When all I had was Hoosier A3S03s for tires! (not counting my crappy, 400+treadwear rated, rock-hard freeway rubber.)  After that, I realized maybe I ought to get another set of racing wheels and tires just for when it rains.  You'd think I'd be prepared for that, with my home region being in Seattle and all.  But I guess it doesn't rain that hard all that often... lots of drizzly misty stuff during the early season.  You can sort of get by without special rain tires for those sort of conditions.

Oh yeah by the way a peloquin will help HUGE in rainy conditions.  :)  Front wheel drive also isn't such a bad thing when it rains either!  :D

hey doc, sorry to hear about the bad weather and result.. there's always next time!

i was fully planning to come up to square 1 and check it out, but unfortunetely i got a 65km/h in a 50km/h ticket dropping my girlfriend off at work at 8am that sort of killed my spirits for the day. the cop said "i watched you accelerate all the way up the hill, 61, 62, 63, 64" and all i could say was "sorry sir, its a diesel, it pulls hard up the hills, i didn't notice"

15 over. they used to just smile and wave at you for 15 over.
