MK2 ALH... MK4 wiring?!? need help
« on: May 14, 2007, 03:57:51 pm »
What do you thing about this idea?

I would like to use a MK3 TDI wiring hardness on a MK4 TDI engine into my MK2 (CE2). I would like to use the MK4 ECU.

Did someome try this set-up?

(am I crazy?)

Thanks

I think it could be done. A couple of things that come to mind is that the MK4 uses the 10 pin connector at the pump but it is only 8 pin on the MK3. The MK4 also uses an external map sensor whereas the mk3 has one internal to the ECU.

I'm doing something somewhat similar on my Golf in that I'm using a 98 Jetta TDI harness from the fuse box to the engine compartment and then splicing it to the MK4 ECU to run the PD engine. I have the engine side of the PD harness.

It seems to be the easiest way to go.

Does someone have the MK3 TDI and MK4 2001 TDI wiring diagrams? It could be very useful!

I was working on the pinouts but there are still several wires I'm unsure of.

All the electronic VE pump like TDI have 10 wire.

The only difference, the ALH (A4) have 10 wire in one big connector, and the A3 have 8 wire in big connector, and 2 other for N108 on the small connector.

The advantage of taking the ALH wiring hardness compare with 1Z/AHU , it for is managed the VNT turbo.

Personally, it have there much better result with a mechanical pump rather than of used a 1Z/AHU wiring.

Or take the AFN 110HP european golf3 wiring, they have VNT15 of origin, ask on the french section, ''Golf 2 TDI''  I gets one.

Finally I will use the CE3 fusebox for the engine and the CE2 fusebox for the rest of the car.

Does someone have some tricks to help me for my swap?

The headlight switch wiring for example. I'n not sure because I want to use the MK2's switch.

Also, how could I remove the comfort system central control module? I will use the MK2 wires for the central locking system and for the power windows.

Thanks
