A2 Jetta - Upgrade to GTI Grill & Lights
« on: May 13, 2007, 01:19:02 pm »
Has anyone done this upgrade?  Looking for better lighting for night driving, I assume the 4 headlight setup will be the best.

Can anyone share their experiences here?

you'll need the proper core support (which can be bolted onto your car thankfully, 1984 and earlier are welded) grill, and of course lights. associated wiring.

you can probably find H4 lights for your existing configuration which would have similar pattern/brightness if you use the same bulbs.

you could add some relays for brightness.

I did the 4 light conversion to my previous 87 Jetta after I hit a deer that failed to signal

Compared to the oem lights, it was like looking at the surface of the sun

VERY worth it if you do significant night driving.

I bought the complete kit. All bolt on, easy, simple, one of those things I wished after that I'd done when I first got the car...

I got mine years ago through Ron's Parts, before the company divided up.
RPI has it:

It's gotta be somewhere cheaper than that...although you could sell your original grill & headlights to offset a bit.

Might be worth emailing tmtuning.com to see what they can do.
