You should not have said that if you wanted get my AAZ
What do you mean? I just spelled it out for you. It isn't difficult, it just involves gathering the needed parts. Why not go with the electronics? The wiring isn't that bad.
I know you did! As far as car mechanics is concerned, I try to keep things simple since I don't know a lot and have no proper installation to work.
As for the electronics, I know that a lot of mecanics won't do it. Also, I am adict of left foot breaking, wich, I have heard, is not quite possible with the electronic pump... Plus, one again, all the trouble wich I am not shure I could pull through.
Which means I do not think I will do it and keep my engine.
Where is your 1.9 pump leaking? Most leaks can be repaired without a "rebuild".
That's what I though when I went to the shop and asked for a change of seals (no rebuilt, no warranty). Since I got it, cold start lever wil not stay out of dashboard (pulls in as soon as I stop pulling on it), and now it leaks again... I think this time I will ask for the rebuilt.
A 1.6 pump could be converted to 1.9 spec but it would involve changing a lot of expensive parts. Likely not worth it. A rebuilt pump can be had from the dealer for around $800, probably less than the conversion. You could bolt the 1.6 pump on to get you around for the week and then swap them back after you get yours rebuilt...
You are abslutely right about using the 1.6td pump for a few days...
It is quite possible that injectors are fine and that problems (smoky idle and misses when engine cold, poor mileage, etc) are caused by insuficient pump pressure.
Thaks alot.
