Exhaust
« on: April 24, 2007, 03:30:54 pm »
I have a slightly modified 1.6 td in a 92 jetta. New engine, Giles pump etc.
What kind of exhaust (system muffler or both) would give me a nice sound outside but not make it so i can't think inside the car either.

thanks for your help

the cause i have heard with out mufflers were not really all that loud.. the turbo does alot of quieting... they're a little obnoxious outside of the car though haha

Get the Passenger Performance 2.5" down pipe.  Get some 2.5" tubing and 4 90 degree mandrel bends.  Get a stack of metal coat hangers, fire up your gas welder and have at it.  A glass pack makes an OK muffler on a TD.  I had to shorten the glass pack to fit the muffler location on a rabbit.  Cut the OD only of the glass pack.  Pull it appart.  shorten the OD case and the ID waffle tube so its the right length to fit.  Slide it back togather and weld it up.  Works good, lasts long time.

Or, same PP down pipe, install it and drive to a muffler shop that will play ball and have them do the 2.5" exhauste system.

You won't regret it
