hello,
i had an OEM muffler on my N/A golf, i used to be able to spin alot into 2nd but now with my hooker competition muffler (yes, its louder  ) it only chirps into 2nd.....is the lack of back pressure creating a loss of torque?? or whats going on? the car in general doesnt even feel all that much quicker (and i've adjusted the metering valve) :?
thanks,
Jeff
try putting a restriction over the tailpipe and see if it likes more back pressure, or remove the muffler and see if it's acting like a restriction.
nevermind....I really took it out for a drive today, punched it in 3rd and 4th, and it picks up like it never did before...there might be a lack of tourqe because of less back pressure, but HP has gone up (WOO! pushing 60HP  )
What did that run you? I seem to have busted my exhaust while jumping through a snowbank and landing straddled over a sidewalk. I may just leave it...I'm not getting coated in soot while I drive and it's not a whole lot louder than my snorkle free intake.
A stock downpipe is 70CDN and another 40 for the clamps.
The things I'll do to deliver a pizza on time, hehehe, my Electrical Engineering degree rules!

i got it for free off a buddy of mine. They had it in the garage for years... it was going to be for their rabbit but they got rid of that car and when i bought my golf they said "here, you take it." I had to cut the ends off because they weren't meant for my car (obviously) but i made it work.
