1.6 td gearbox
« on: April 11, 2007, 07:50:10 am »
Hello can anyone tell me what speeds they can do at what RPMs with a td or gtd box (standard)

My mk1 caddy is running a GTD engine with a caddy sport (petrol) gearbox and does 90mph in fifth at around 3750 rpms but im thinking this is a bit high for the old girl and im wearing out the turbo on the motorway (8-10PSI according to guage).

Is a GTD box much different in top?

90 MPH at 3750.. that's a pretty good tranny. Use www.scirocco.org/gears and just play around with the different codes. 4S and AGS (IIRC) are TD tranny codes

I have a GTD and the box appears to have identical ratios as yours. When/If the 02A goes on, that'll be about 2850rpm for 90mph

4296 rpm @ 90mph for my '92 ECO with AVX tranny (4.25 R&P)

It will only do that speed down hill, and you have to flog it mercilessly.

Hmm so mines pretty good then? it will go right up to about 110mph (into the redline) in 5th (on a private road obviously) no problems so i thought it was a bit short for it.

will i wear out my turboid doing long hours at sustained 8 psi>?
