I'm building an AAZ for my Mk 1 Caddy and need a good strong clutch. Any suggestions as to what, and where I can get one???
clutchnet.com
thats where i got mine
im using their "red"
but a yellow would probably be ok too
Dave at Passenger performance had a nice 4 puck a little while ago. Maybe he ran out, but he is up your way and would save you on shipping.
How long do those 4 puck clutches last? I mean, if you light it up at every stop nothing will last long, but what can you expect with average use?

supposedly one customer has gone 40'000km on his clutch with a 6 lbs flywheel...
i just tore apart the clutch on my newly acquired TDI engine (approx 130'000km) and the clutch looks beat. i really want dave's 4 puck setup.
Dave no longer offers the 4-puck, but said he could accomodate me with another type. I'm presently awaiting the cost.
So thats only around 24,000 miles right? Man, I would be replacing those things all the time. I do around 4-500 miles a week.

No, you don't understand. He presently has 40,000 km on it and it's still going strong. He hasn't had them out there all that long, so noone has had time to put more than that on one.

hehe... that clutch can hold about 200 hp, and i highly doubt your motor is pushing 200 hp. this clutch would last a very long time for you as long as you didn't dump it too often.
and yes... he merely said that one customer has gone 40'000km so far... so that doesn't mean that the clutch is only good for 40'000km... (i would never EVER buy a clutch rated for 40'000km... that is just ridiculous!!!)
I got one. Dave will be shipping it this week.
