1.6TD into a 1.9TD, what glow plugs?
« on: April 03, 2007, 12:18:07 am »
I'm in the process of putting a 1.6TD into a 95 golf in place of a 1.9TD. What do I need to do to be able to use the 1.6TD glowplugs or are they a direct swap?

The eaiest solution would be to use the 1.9 glow plugs in the 1.6.The duraterm ??? bosch glow plugs are commonly used in the 1.6 anyways.

and the glow plugs stay on for a few minutes after starting to keep it running okay... the duraterms should hold up nicely!

Thanks guys, I had heard bad things about the plugs staying on too long and whatnot so I didn't want to use to the 1.9 gowplugs.

Its not the 1.9 glow plugs that are the issue I've only saw 1 gp relay stick on,thats one too many though.

Right, and Iw as kind of hoping it would be as easy as swapping relays. I have Bosch duraterms, hopefully everythign works
