hey people, i have an 89 turbo diesel jetta which is mint with the 1.6td i bought this car just a a lil runabout but i really like this car. i had the fuel pump turned up a bit and noticed a difference. A few of the hard core turner people here think im crazy lol but im wondering what i can do to boost the performace of this little diesel. I'd luv to be able to pass my wife in her civic si haha. thanks guys and i look forward to hearing any and all input

Check the FAQ/Tech tips forum, you'll find everything you'll need to know there.

Hardcore tuners think you are crazy? Why don't you show them you are! You can do wonders with these little engines and still do 40mpg.

Before you attempt any mods, I suggets you make sure the engine is in top shape. Do a compression test to see if there's a problem and maybe replace the headgasket with a metal one from a 1.9TD (not TDI). There's a lot more to it than that but it's a start.

hey , thanks alot!! Im looking forward to starting this project soon.. I have a line on another 1.6td here in my area thats running for next to nothing so that would be the motor i tear down and build up the right way.

Cool it's nice to have a daily driver and a project car.
