Engine support

Hi guys,

Thanks for all the help I have had until now!
I am changing my steering rack now, and I want to lower the engine and support beam.  Should I only loosen the 6 bolts which hold the beam to the chassis, or is there also a engine support that needs to be loosened?
I have Haynes and Bentleys but they are not clear about it, in fact they say different things :?  My idea is I loosen only the 6 bolts (key size 16 and 18)that hold the beam to the chassis and also the front motor mount because that one will suffer if I lower the engine and beam.In fact, can a  motor mount be bended a bit or is there a rigid metal bolt that goes all the way through it? The 2 motor mounts between engine and beam I want to leave tightened.
Anyone knows what the right way is?
Also: I saw a little leak at bearing of the servo pump, should I buy a new one? :? Thanks very much, Jan

take my advice... just take the motor and maybe transmission out... although once you loosen the tranny it can be moved out of the way.

i can tell you by experience that when the motor is out all you need to do is put your little stool where the motor once was, and go to town on the steering rack ripping it out because its sucks and the boots are torn and who needs PS anyways???  :twisted:  :lol:

im currently switching to manual steering... i splurged and bought the rack for $170.  i know... a lot of dough to be spending on it but its going into a real nice car once i'm done with it!

edit: hmmmm do you have the engine out already???
