I never stop working on this bloody car! Wondering if anyone might know the source of a clunking noise when I'm stopping. Also, if I'm driving around in 1st- there's what sounds to be almost a clicking noise. Feels like it gets worse when I turn. I'm thinking might be time for new CV- how hard are these to replace?
Cheers,
Brent
Swapping a CV is not that hard. As usual, a lift would make life easier, but go with what you have. For the time and effort involved I would swap out the whole assembly. In my mind its not worth the effort to do only the inner or the outer. Buy a reman and replace. you will need the special star type diver to get the inner cv/trans bolts out. Forgot the size. Also, check the motor and trans mount for the clunking noise. I had that and it was the trans mount.
8mm 12pt driver, or triple square or XZN
Take your hood off and go for a drive. Notice how far the engine moves, although it is most likely to be a motor mount.
