This is a stupid question, but I was just wondering what the difference is between the shortblock diesels and the longblock diesels?   thanx

May or may not include camshaft. The camshaft will probably be included if the engine is a pushrod design and will not be included if it uses an overhead camshaft.


My guess is that a long block, then, includes the head and accessories. I didn't know until I looked it up, and I only did that because it pops up so much.

Well done for asking. It's not easy when everyone else seems to know what they're talking about. Just the same for all that computer jargon you get on pages dedicated to solving problems with the software etc.

 :shock: So is a short long block a complete 4 cylinder engine and a medium short block an Audi 5 ganger block only? and a long long block a Volvo 6 cylinder complete... :mrgreen:  :mrgreen:
