AAZ Governer mod
« on: March 18, 2007, 05:15:56 am »
Hi all. I've been trawling the search forums to find out about the governer mod on my aaz. Any of the posts i've seen are for the 1.6 td pump. Is the method of modding the governer on the aaz pump the very same??? I am aware or the use of the aneroid pin from the 1.6 in the 1.9. Thanks guys

Well mostly the same, the aaz pumps are a little more complicated inside. It has been ahwile, but i think it has to do with the gov setup on the aaz pump being a bit different. Maybe some one who has pulled one apart more recently then myslef can chime in here.

Too bad I didn't take pics. Yeah, there is one spring that is different in that it is external to the rest of the governor, not on the shaft. Everything else looked the same. Make sure to mark the position of the throttle shaft, which if yours is like mine, has to be marked after taking off the first spring. It doesn't have the hash marks like in the gov mod pics. all the springs were a *** to get back on. I had the best success using some MIG wire wrapped on a bolt and a very small nut driver to pull and push them back into place.

Thanks for the pictures.... always worth a thousand words.

I've got a NA practice pump before I tear into my real pump so I don't have the spring that shows in your second picture... but I will when I do it for real.

Where does that little spring attach ??

thanks,

It attaches to the governor. You'll see when you take it apart.

Hi again all. I'm starting to think that it may be better to use the 1.6 td pump in place of the aaz pump. Is this wise or rediculous???  The reason that i ask this is the following... I'd be pulling the 1.6td pump apart for the aneroid pin anyway and if the governer mod is easier on the 1.6td pump then why not just use that?? Any advice greatly appreciated guys.. Cheers  Shane

The mod really shouldn't be any harder on the aaz pump. I'd use it
