okay so if in in the parking lot I can shift fine... pull out sometimes it's easy sometimes it is really hard to get into the gears

Drove down the road downshifted to 4th, 3rd, 2nd fine but 1st was a pain then going back up once it was pain but downshifting was fine till I hit 1st again

I am thinking my whole linkage setup is shot and causing this strange situation as all the mounts are good and nothing is sagging or rocking around in the bay (drove in parking lot with hood up nothing moving beyond acceptable range)

but if for some reason when I change my linkage and it still does this crap what else could it be?

I have a spare tranny but I threw my back out so if I could change linkage this week that would be super and maybe do a swap later....  :(

well my linkage was really stiff... went to rust check guys and they lubed up my entire car really really well.  so well in fact, that they fixed my shifter and made it REALLY loose the way it should be!  I also got my tranny oil changed, and that helped HUGE! its soooo easy to get it into gear i love it!!! 2nd gear still grinds, but thats the downfall of the transmission... plus the fact that the synchro is busted on it   i can usually shift just right so that it doesn't grind... but taking it from 1st right into 2nd without a delay will grind it.

Does double clutching help at all? If yes that would indicate old fluid
If it gets easier when the tranny has warmed up then your gear oil is too thick. If it's old it should be replaced with a nice synthetic.
I actually have the same problem with my car, but I haven't had time to fix it yet. I can't downshift 1 or 2 unless I'm going slow enough. To get into first  gear (90% of the time) I have to be completely stopped. I can't even force it into gear.
It also could very well be an alignment issue with the linkage

linkage, synchro or physical tranny damage would be the most likely suspects, in that order.

Hopefully my back is okay enough to allow me to replace the linkage ( have all brand new stuff) but at least I got my other car to run correctly today....

well NOW the car worked okay around the block parked it.

came back out to take to get new pump put on and it wouldn't let me go into any other gear but 1st and when I did it was all like I was violently dropping the clutch even though I was slowly slipping it out????

I wanna blow it up!

think I will throw a newer tranny and a new flywheel clutch at it along with linkage crap (all paying somebody cause my back is crap now) I love this

http://www.spinalrelief.ca/

i'm going to go there for my sciatic pain.  always bend with the knees.. but i was lifting tons of stuff and i had do arch my back to get it on top of where it needed to be...  a weak back was the culprit!

spinal surgery is the worst thing you can do for your back!
