Ive got an 86 Jetta TD. i put in a 210mm clutch and a solid motor mount (front) to replace the hydra mount. I suppose the lighter flywheel of the 210 vs 200 and the solid mount will definitely make it rattle more. I never did take this into consideration all though it seems to make a difference on performance. Anyways, any ideas here to help possibly or am i stuck with it. how do i check the pass mount for problems?? Also, my blower fan make noise. Anyways to fix it with out ripping the whole HVAC system?  thanks for your help and the forum is great!!

what kind of noise is your blower motor making? I have an 87 golf 1.8 gas that makes a churping sound kinda like a bird when its set at 1st speed.  At full speed it doesnt make any noises like that.  My guess is to repair that would mean taking out the fan, and possibly the whole heater core?  I don't have my manual in front of me right now so I wouldnt know.

My 86 Jetta Heater fan is ez access from pass side floor, rotates out in ~ 10 Sec, then I just twist another one in.  Wish the Heater core was that ez!

With a Diesel you want a very soft engine mount (no polyurethane!)  I would expect the Hydraulic would be best.  The high compression = too much vibration. Needs dampinging, not like a gas, where rigid means better.

I pulled the hydraulic mount cause the guys in Vortex mentioned theyre better and hold up longer. If i have to ill reinstall the hydro mount. I turned up the idle and it doesnt rattle as bad but i think my idle is at 1000+ now, not sure though as the alt tach doesnt seem to be very accurate.
Also, the blower fan i think is rubbing on the inside plastic along with the fan motor going to hell. The fan motor doesnt run the smoothest (like it has bad spot where the brushes run on). Let me know

In my previous 87 Jetta TD, the hydraulic mount was completely shot. I didn't have access to all the cool parts resources or this site at the time & wasn't about to pay $$$ from the dealer so I got a replacement from the junkyard.
Sorry I can't remember what year it was out of but it was (solid?) rubber style mount off an earlier diesel. Fit right in, no extra harshness but WAY more secure than the hydraulic ever was.
Was nice to be able to shift again, hadn't realized how bad it had gotten :?
