Need a Turbo!
« on: February 23, 2007, 06:41:51 am »
Title says it all.  I am getting a 1.6TD manifold donated to my cause.  The goal here, is to have a good setup to get the car running, it will be mostly stock at this juncture, as I'd like to have it on the road by June.  So, what are some good and CHEAP turbo options that will work for this purpose?  Again, looking for good used turbos, not trying to win any races... yet.  :)  Basically just something that will get the car rolling until next year when I tear it all apart and go hog wild.  I guess the questions to ask are, what sort of turbos fit the 1.6td manifold and what size should I be looking for?

This is a 1.9 TDI, by the way.  Not sure on the injection pump yet either.

Thanks!

Ok, check this out on Ebay: Turbo

Would it work for a mechanical TDI, and would it bolt to a 1.6TD manifold?  Price is right.  :)

Thanks-

that wont bolt onto the factory manifold unless you make a spacer.

So what I'm hearing is that only a factory 1.6TD turbo will bolt on to the 1.6TD manifold?

yes, only the factory VW diesel turbos will bolt to the factory manifold as it uses a unique trapazoid/keystone style flange compred to the standard t25 four bolt or a t3/t4 4 bolt flange. I've seen some pretty cleverly made adaptor plates though!
