i was in a similar situation when i was driving a corrado with 6 or 7 tickets. i opened up the yellowpages and started making calls. get as many quotes as you can to better your chances. i'm now with CAA because i get a discount due to being a member and having home insurance with them. good luck.
(you asked when i'm getting a giles pump.. maybe never.. i have 1 ticket on record now since i've been driving a stock TD on the road the past 3 years or so.) slow down! or, see you at shannonville.

Try the Co-operators, mine was way more with "the Personal" someone that claims to be a military friend lol! The co-operators has been great. My wife put the car in the ditch and then our rates went down after they did a reassessment...
Now I'm paying $177/month for my 99 Golf TDI for my wife and myself (I'm 22 and she's 21 so it hurts). She's also only had her full license for 3 years now so that jacks it up too

When I was single in CFB Borden (clean record) driving a 1990 dodge effing shadow I was paying $400/month with the Personal...they suck. That was in 2002! That was over 1/3 of my cleared pay too lol...bastards.

insurance companies will try to find any way to increase your insurance rate... i'm with belair and simply because my car is diesel my rate went up another $5 or so...
with 3 tickets they put you at high risk driver??? i know some people who have been in more than 3 accidents paying around $650?? it also depends on where you live and what coverage you want... if i were you i'd drive the ***tiest car and just get liability on it. that way u lessen the chance for speeding tickets too

All i have right now is liabilty on my passat. In the summer im going to try to get my dad to register my rabbit in his name and put classic insurance on it. insurance sucks but everyone needs it.

yea insurance is a big scam though... i'd say its generally more females getting into accidents than males... and if its a male, hes obviously some idiot kid who likes to drive fast, but is too incompetent to know when/where. Or an old person...
your best bet is to just get a winter beater that you can afford to smash in the winter. gm cars are the best for this!!!
all it takes is one retard to make a stupid move and completely ruin your ***!!!

I went from a 94 Ford Taurus Wagon to a 86 Golf 4DR Diesel and my insurance went up. As far as I can tell from the vehicles I have owned, insurance costs are inversely proportional to the quantity of said vehicle in your local wrecking yards.

I'm paying 360 every 6 months on my Golf with the Co-operators. I tried shopping around years ago and almost every one else was double or more what I was paying with them, so I don't even bother comparing prices any more. I'm 40 and married, so that makes a difference although my record isn't squeaky clean.

classic insurance covers a limited amount of milage the last time i called around about it. it also doesn't allow you to legally drive the car unless its to a show or parade, etc. in addition, when you need the insurance because there has been an accident, you won't be covered because you are not your dad. many of these policies (last i checked) only cover the driver on the policy. been down this road as well. sounds like you've got some better quotes. in the 300s isnt too bad with tickets. at least 1 must be a major eh?

Glad you found some better possibilities.
A local broker put me through Kingsway a few yrs ago when I was 'high risk' due to too many tickets. I was 34 at the time though, mine went up to ~$450/mo.
Had been with SF, I didn't get inflated rates, they just sent me a letter that basically said 'Regarding your policy, phuck you'...and cancelled my coverage. I've had one claim from hitting a deer, and numerous speeding tickets.
Then to add another insult, my SF house insurance kept going up, so I called to ask why. I get a revised lowered policy with some lame excuse 'Oh your local fire station has a new pumper truck'.
Apparently a new fire truck can better protect my property from fire, theft, act of God, and liability...
Uh huh. If I hadn't ***ed, my rates woulda continued through the roof.
I got a policy through Allstate (another fiasco I won't bother with here) and didn't bother to tell SF. Two weeks later they call to remind me my policy expired.
I said 'Yep.'
Girl says oh ok so you have made other arrangements then?
I said 'Yep.'
Ok, thanks, good-bye.
No effort to re-quote, get me back, inquire if/why I was dissatisfied, nothing. Couldn't have cared less for my business.
Been ticket free for 4yrs now, want to get TD or PC quotes when I have a moment.
Back down to just over $100/mo but I'm 38 & live in the sticks
Went with local mutual house insurance co, still aggrevating but not near like SF or Allstate.
Tell State Farm to take a flying leap and don't EVER go back.

...i just cant see how they sleep at night.
Very well actually. Be it at home, on their yacht, in the summer house, Swiss ski chalet, Venice apartment...etc
In all fairness by 'numerous' I meant I did have 6 or 8 tickets on my licence when I got cancelled, the last one for 49 over.
But after 15+ years with them with one claim, to have them cancel, really cheesed me. I can understand inflated rates for 'risk' (to some degree) but c'mon...
And I bet we can all think of someone that's had a past DUI or other serious infraction too, that's now driving and paying less than $600+ per month...explain that to me :x
