5 speed to 4 speed
« on: November 23, 2004, 08:10:21 pm »
I have an 82 rabbit pickup and I suspect that it was supposed to have a 5 speed in it stock, and i suspect that it has a 4 speed in it, the reason that i dont know is that I cannot row through the gears since something is binding up and not letting me shift into any gears other than reverse, 1st, and 2nd or 4th, i havent driven it so i am not real familiar with its shift pattern

what is a simple way to determine what speed trans it is, i have heard that there are differences on the drivers side trans mount

and is there a difference in shifting linkage and why would not be able to shift throught the gears but it was able to engage into what i thought was a 4 speed pattern when I had the trans out??

thanks guys
Justin
