Turbo diesel injectors
« on: November 20, 2004, 09:15:09 pm »
Wanting to replace my turbo diesel injectors (88 Jetta TD).  I found some rebuilt ones that are 155 bar, supposedly for a turbo diesel.  Mine say 130 bar on them.  What is up with this?  Were there different injectors for turbo diesel cars, or do I have non-turbo injectors in my turbo diesel car (bought it fourth hand with 380,000km on it so I'd believe anything).

It's a weird thing.  I called Bosch and they gave me the # for the injectors for the 1.6 TD.  It's NA14X and they are 130 bar.  It appears that the "NA" would stand for Normally Aspirated.  They list them for $101 CDN rebuilt, but you can't buy them from them.  You have to buy them from VW or an authorized retailer.  They said they only sold one type for the 1.6 diesel, the 130 bar, and that was it.  Then I went to the VW dealership and they had the same part (130 bar rebuilt injectors, presumably they get them from Bosch) and they listed them for $179CDN rebuilt.  They told me the same thing, only one type of injector available for the 1.6 diesel and it is 130 bar.  Then I went to the vwdieselparts.com website and bought some 155 bar rebuilt bosch turbo diesel injectors from Jack for $44US.  Should get them sometime next week.  So I don't know what's going on, but I'm going to put the 155 bar ones in there and see what happens.  I love how the stealership increased the bosch list price by $79.  Just goes to show you, watch where you get your parts.
