ceramic coating and turbo failure
« on: February 10, 2007, 05:43:24 pm »
I was wondering if anyone has had any failures with the garrett t-3 intergral wastegates after having the turbine housing ceramic coated.   My volvo garrett turbo diesel wastegate diaphragm seemed to have failed and I believe the ceramic coating of the housing may have led to it's demise.

When I got my k24 coated they wouldn't do the wastegate as it could be damaged and its realtively pointless too.I realize that you can't remove the wastegate from your housing so theres not much you can do other than not getting it coated.
