Most definitely made in Germany.
Made by Meyle a big supplier of all kinds of after market parts.
I will supply pics shortly.

Myke W,
Are these oil pumps made in Germany? I purchased a higher volume oil pump from the Parts Place Inc. and it turned out to be one made in China( the three words I hate the most) . It was inferior looking from a quality standpoint -looked like the machining was done on a hobby lathe. Then they charged me a restocking fee when I returned it-I will never buy a thing from those clowns again.
                                                                            Thanx,
                                                                             Pete

I've had similar experiences with parts place and won't buy from them again either. They advertise one thing....and sold another.... haven't been back since. When I voiced my concerns, etc...man...customer service wasn't par either...

Ok, I'm a big dummy. Don't worry, the deal is still god, the pump is still made in Germany and all that.

One minor detail about the part - Standard mechanical head pumps actually had 26mm gears.

I measured tonight - This pump, and all the newer ones, ie 9a, aba, ahu, 1z, probably even aaz have 30mm gears.

I threw the one in the pics in my TD Vanagon this evening and it really boosted pressure at speed and even a bit at idle..

Anyway, FWIW.. :)

Myke W, I have a German Import JR code 1.6 TD hydraulic  engine.  I have been fighting Oil Pressure issues since day one.  Engine had only 48,000 miles on clock when imported with excellent numbers all around except OP.  Idle, 8 PSI, and at 2200 RPM, 24 PSI measured warm with mechanical gauge.
Cold, I am at 26 lbs idle and 68 lbs @2200 RPM. I suspected  the intermediate shaft bearings were going South until I read your post.  Do you really think I can gain acceptable oil pressure with your setup?  I would much prefer removing the pan and NOT the whole engine if possible!  What can I expect for oil pressure with the 36mm gears in a 1.6 TD engine?  Any comments you can add I would appreciate.  I am used to much higher numbers as my NA engines run in the 70 PSI range at 2200RPM, but these are all mechanical lifter engiines, not TD hydraulic.  Tom

I would suspect your car came with this pump, since it has a hydraulic head..
This is not really a remedy to low oil pressure on a tired motor - It's more of an upgrade from stock to get more oil pressure out of the gates..  If you did go this route, I think you would be just delaying the inevitable..

myke_w,
Definitely good quality, I wish I had pictures of the one made in China-the tip of the drive shaft was uneven and when you turned the shaft there was play and a loud rumbling sound. Anyhow I didn't see them on your ebay store should I order one over here? Do these require the longer mounting bolts, which I have?
                                                                         Thanx,
                                                                          Pete

My paypal is [email protected]
I'd prefer to avoid the ebay store if not just for the damn fees.
I am pretty sure the bolt length is the same. IIRC it's only the body of the pump that is clearenced for the gears, so the body is the same length as the old ones, also has to be that way for proper pickup clearance.
I generally need a day or so to turn them around..

I will put pics of the gears next to each other tonight so you can see the difference.

Forgive my ignorance.... Is there a significant difference between the 1.5 and 1.6 oil pumps? More oil is always a good thing...

the 1.5 pump would almost certainly have small gears..

I suppose I should ask if it'd likely work with bigger gears.
Also... I just noticed page 2 and read briefly.... 30mm on a 1Z? And yours are 36mm? Hmmmm.... Anything that'd help the life of our 1Z might be loved by my mom....

Let me clarify..

Old pumps - pre-hydraulic - 26mm gears - #068-115-105NA

This pump - hydraulic lifter motor - 30mm gears - #028-115-105G

Same pump as later hydraulic motors, same as 1z, ahu

Sorry about the confusion.. I'm an idiot

Hey Mike, this isn't the pump you got on your website is it?
'Cause your website says 36mm gears. Just curious, here you say it's 30mm gears and I'm just wondering which one I got from you. Thanks :)

EDIT: You mustuv upgraded since this post, I did some searches and found were people measured your's and said they're 36mm.  :)
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.
