85 Mechanical TD Oil Pump
« on: January 19, 2007, 01:34:16 pm »
I'm in the process of rebuilding a Mechanical Lifter Turbo Diesel Engine.  Upon reading and looking at parts catalogs I'm a little confused about the available Oil Pumps for this engine.

I'm not sure if VW lists one Pump for all applications now or not.  Anyone out there have the scoop on OP's?

i think its the same style pump for mech and lifter motors.  you will need to have the diesel version.  the turbo diesel oil pump has more flow than n/a due to piston oil squirters, and the presence of the turbo.

I'm seeing a part number of 028 115 105 G for the oil pump as per ETKA... models JR,MF,RA,SB price $136 jobber and $157 retail.

Mechanical and hydrolic lifters do have different pumps. I think you can use a hydro on a mech but I'm not positive

Can we use the oil pumps from the 2.0 ABA gasser blocks?
I think they are supposed to be higher flow.
