sounds like something came loose. I'm not familiar with mk2 shifter linkages yet so I can't say for sure what it is. Also check your tranny fluid level

I just filled the tranny with dope. when you first adjust the linkage it shifts fine into R, 1st and 3rd. you gotta push it hard into 2nd and 4th and it has yet to go into 5th.........

it's possible that your synchros are shot. If you drive around for a while does it get easier to get into 2/4?

Andrew,
It sounds like an adjustment problem to me but you didn't mention if you got adjustable linkages. Third and fourth gear are neutral side to side and will work if your other link is broken, and first and second requires a push with the bell crank link (the short one). Fifth requires a pull with the bell crank link and I don't know if there is any adjustment stock. I got the adjustable links from Roger Brown at Visual Diagnostics/4Crawler Offroad and tightened up my shifting. Roger's web site has a lot of help and directions as well. I hope this helps.

If it gets worse with driving you might have a broken motor/tranny mount.
