OK so i changed the injector pump on my 1.6 td and have just gotten around to try to time the pump with the dial indicator. I figured it was out because it started hard when cold. So i do everything as the bentley says and i'm at .72 so i need to get it to about 1.00. But its at its max adjustment to increase the numbers, so i'm assuming i have to go back to the timing belt, but what would be the easiest way. Can i just skip a tooth on the injector pump pulley to get the extra adjustment or do i need to start over? I think i'm just going to try skiping a tooth on the injector to make up for it. we'll see how it goes..
The camshaft sprocket is on a taper. Loosen the bolt then tap the sprocket lightly to free it from the tapered end of the camshaft. Now you get everything lined up correctly as per the Bentley. The crankshaft #1 TDC, the pump locked and the camshaft in correct position, tighten the camshaft bolt. Then check the pump timing and adjust..
ok, i jumped a tooth like i said. Went and timed the pump and was able to. Now is there anyway to confirm that the cam to cranshaft relationship is still good without tearing her right down again? The cam top dead center (lobes pointing up and lock plate) line up with the mark on the flywheel, is this all i need to be sure?
Thanks

hand rotation seems a little stiffer, but no binding. does this sound fine?
well she seems to be running really well.. guna take her for a ride and see how she does...
