  Im thinking of doing a tranny swap as my drive flange is warped and my second gear synchro is pretty bagged.
  
  Theres an 020 AGB for sale. I currently have a 020 4S. The R&P ratio of the 4s is 3.94 compared to a 3.67 on the AGB. The final drive is 2.96 on the 4S, compared to 3.34 on the AGB.
  
  Would the AGB run decent in a 1.6l 8v td?

• i am running an acn with the 3.67 r&p and it works just fine. Do you have any other mods to your car?

• hmmm your 4S tranny has a 0.75 5th gear, while the AGB has a 0.91 5th... if you could swap 5th gears, the AGB would be a sweet deal
  
  from 4th to 5th would be very wide though...  :lol:
  
  presently your tranny would do about 69mph¹ @ 3000 rpm while the AGB will do 60mph¹ @ 3000 rpm.
  
  if you do the 5th gear swap, the AGB will do 73.9mph¹ @ 3000 rpm, and 4th gear @ 3000 rpm is 49.1mph¹.  hmmm such a huge jump... you might need some mods to your car for it to be beneficial.
  
  you're also switching from 90mm to 100mm drive axles too, and main shaft bearing diameter of 22mm to 24mm.  is there any known issue with doing this???

• dude are you sure about the flanges? all the imformation ive found says that the flanges are 100mm on the AGB.

• The AGB does have 100mm flanges.  The 4S, however, does not.  Check out these sites for most any tranny information you'll need.

• well i'd like to know what the issue is too... since i currently have 90mm flanges, but have a tranny i'd like to swap in that has 100mm.  just something to think about really... its usually the little things like that, that will put a halt to an otherwise simple project!

• 4S defintly has 90mm flanges. I own 2 of the trannies.
  You can easily swap the flanges around though

  yay!  would there be much benefit to switching to a 100mm flange on an mk2??? i'll just swap the flanges i have on my tranny right now..  before i do that though i want to get a performance clutch from pp, rather than having to go in and change the clutch later on.  
  
  right now my clutch seems to be slipping a lot...  the tranny is a piece of garbage though  cant wait to swap it out

• I think 100mm can take a bit more of a beating, but don't quote me on that one. I highly doubt you would ever notice a differance though.
