Stock 97 Jetta TD vs A Riced Up Civic
« on: November 30, 2006, 07:52:33 am »
So I'm on my way home from work last night and I pass this riced up Civic on the highway. You know the type, lowered, huge rims/little rubber, decals all over the windows, bee fart muffler etc. I don't think he was too impressed, and he picked up speed to pass me on the right and not let me back in. Any way, got in front of him, pulled in and a couple miles up the highway, I turned off. So did he. We are now going along the main thoroughfare of an industrial park....two lanes in each direction. Stop at a set of lights...me in the right lane, him in the left....both at the line. A large crane comes out of another road and onto our road, headed in the same direction we are. I think to myself "I gotta get around that crane or it will be a very slow trip" so I have to beat the ricer.

Light turns green and I hit it. So does he. I can hear that annoying muffler buzzing...even over the tunes I have playing. I grab second and keep the hammer down. Then, I notice I am losing power. I look down and I'm at the redline (4500rpm on my tach). Throw it in third and look back.......nice blueish black haze from my car to the intersection. I was still ahead of the Civic so I change lanes and pull around the crane, then pull back into my original lane.

At the next set of lights, a very cranky Civic driver pulls up beside me and puts his window down and asks what mods I had done to the car. I smiled and "I didn't HAVE to do anything. It's a VW.". At that, the light turned green and I pulled away.....but not before giving it just one last shot and leaving a little more smoke for him.

alot of them think you can get 20 hp from a different and 20 hp from a cai intake and a cone filter.  i know a guy that did a full intake and a full exhaust with a nice header on an integra and he actually got 30 extra dyno proven whp.  he ran a 14.8 just with thos emodifications, and taking out all the loose stuff from his car (back seat spare tire and stuff and also a very empty tank)  it really depends on what honda it is and what motor he has on whether you can beat them.  but when it's some more with giant wheels that make him even slower and then some old stock motor with an intake and exhaust like a d16 or something they're easy to play with and knock off.  i love messing with them because my jetta looks so ***ting and i can usually tell which ones have a good motor in them, so i know when not to play around haha, but they're very spankable (and no i don't mess with acuras lol)

if you actually spend good money on a flow tested full intake setup, and a fully tuned exhaust, you will definitely get big gains like that.  problem is that it won't be cheap :P  k&n and some fart exhaust won't do much but annoy everyone around you lol...

I Just can't wait to smoke some serious Civic. The guy who's building my AAZ said "Is someone going Civic hunting?". My response was "You betcha!".

mustang's won't even be a challenge for me once my beast is done... PD130 engine... going to upgrade turbo, and huge intercooler with dave's PP manifolds... maybe 3" straight back exhaust... i'd love to push 300 whp out of the motor and into the 6 speed too...

maybe i'll get a special license plate... HONDAE4T3R lol...

yeah, but you should see the looks on their faces when a pick-up hands their ass's to them  this weekend some VR6 guys came cruising in at the gas station spinning thier tires and everything, so when i left  i just gave my truck 25% throttle and lit up first.(like 2800 rpm.) that wiped the smirk off thier faces

hehe... vr6's aren't even that great... granted a stage 5 turbo kit will produce 500-600hp but still... diesel is definitely the way to go!

what do you have under the hood of your truck?

edit:  when i said vr6's aren't even that great.. i was mainly talking about mileage...  they are pretty quick motors!
