Andrew and other TD IP pump sages
« on: November 28, 2006, 11:49:05 am »
I have a 1.6L TD IP  pump leaking out of the top of the pump cover beneath the throttle springs.  The LDA is not leaking and no other leaks seen.
Two questions:  Can this be resealed with IP in vehicle, and are there any warnings or tips in removing top cover to replace this seal, I have the DGK kit and hope the seal I need is among the parts.  Thanks for any input you may have.  Regards, Tom

Thanks Andrew for the reply.  I followed your lead and the pump has stopped leaking. It was the throttle O ring as you predicted.  One last question though.  When test driving the truck today, I noticed a lack of power on boost and no smoke when I step on throttle under load.  I did have some black smoke before.  I figure two possibilities. I) I did not put the max. fuel screw in to the same depth or 2)  (I hope not) I misjudged the attachment of the aneroid to the control collar.  Working on my head with the pump in the car made visualization limited to say the least.  I decided to experiment before I pulled  the pump and reattach the linkage on the bench where I can see it.  I removed the max  fuel screw and put a dial indicator resting on the control lever.  I put  10 psi  air pressure to the aneroid and watched for deviation.  I barely got .0005".  I am not convinced I hooked up the aneroid properly. I will screw in the max fuel screw 1/4 turn and test drive the truck.  If that does not help do you have any other way to determine if the aneroid is properly attached  before I pull the pump?  Sorry for the long post.  I hope someone else can gain some knowledge from my mistakes and tinkering.  Thanks,

Tom

Since you guys have had these pumps apart I have a question.  Can I replace the pin O-ring that goes from the aneroid pin to the main pump without pulling the pump?  My pump is leaking from the vent in the side of the boos enrichment unit or LDA as some would call it.
