Is there some kind of right of passage in these forums? This is just as good as any... got my first speeding ticket at the wheel of my stock turbo diesel.
I'm gonna make damn sure that it's my last ticket period.
i never got a tick until i had my turbo diesel swap. 58 in a 25, ouch. haha, it'd be even worse now
I lose 200km/tank depending on how much over the limit I drive, that usually keeps me from speeding
I've noticed the same thing with my fuel economy too... and my ski rack doesn't help either.
i've usually been really lucky... luck has everything to do with not getting tickets.
one time i was coming home from a trip, and i got back into town and was driving on a 2 lane road that passes by a school... school zone = 40 kph. I was doing about 60 (previous speed limit was 60, then changed to 40) and driving in the fast lane. thank god for some other poor schmuck who hit the radar before i did!!! god bless his/her soul!!!
hills are also notorious for having speed traps. I love my diesel because it takes all I have just to keep it up the speed limit going up the hill... hehehe!!!
no speeding tickets so far, and I will plan to keep it that way (although sometimes I do feel the urge to give my car a good run every once in a while). i think the best practice would be to choose those moments wisely... and when you have someone driving beside you!!
I got more tickets in a 1986 Dodge Colt than any other car I owned. It's kinda embarassing since I've owned some fast cars, but that thing was a cop magnet.
The best car I owned was a 1985 Toyota Corolla. That car was pure rust and duct tape. I never got a ticket in all the times I got pulled over. I guess they saw my car and figured I had enough problems.
I also never locked the doors and always left the key in the ignition. Figured if someone needed a car bad enough to steal that POS they could have it.
lol... if i saw a car as you describe.. and with key in ignition... even if i was so desperate i dont think i would drive it.. hypothetically speaking of course...
first thought would be "there must be a reason the key is still in it!"
