Greetings all - I'm new here and very impressed

This is a great site. I have much to explore yet, however I was wondering if there is an English version of a sticky thread in the French forum on IDI
This one: DIY: augmentation de la puissance d'un 1.6TD

I would love to read this if it is available.
I own a very rare 1983 Audi 4000S Turbo Diesel. Only about 400 shipped to N America in this configuration.
I finished a 5 year oem restoration this past spring and would like to squeeze some more performance out of the 1.6.

looks awesome, check the english faq, lots of good stuff in there, only a few french threads have been translated, which is sad, i wish i knew better what was going on over in the french side of this site.  i love your car, looks like you did a spectacular job of restoring it.

Yeah, and headlights!  :wink:

I thought the same thing when I first looked, but then realised it seems to be a picture during the restoration. Hopefully he's added a timing belt cover since then.

I didn't realise Audis used the 4 cylinder too, I always thought they only  5 cyl diesels.

I have all the engine bits for it, alas I don't have a pic with them all mounted. I'll see if I can find one to post. Its put away for the winter so taking a fresh one will be a pain as its -30 right now.

The headlights are all stock and complete however I am looking for a better quality pair of headlight bezels with intact side markers.

She's strictly a summer car from now on. And besides, the CQ is just too much fun in the snow.

i could have bougth a quattro coupe like that for under 400 dollars about a year ago.  :shock:   it was all beat up, but a deal none the less

Great looking car... I like the color and the wheels as well.  Those are 4 x 100, right?   I've never seen a 4ksTD before!

As far as translation goes, I can do some of it for you if you like, but honestly, you might have better luck searching in the English archives section here.  There are quite a few threads about increasing the power on a TD in there...

Yes the wheels are 4X100's 15X6.5 BBS RM's. New Toyo Proxy 4s for rubber.

I found the English version in the General folder, but thanks for the offer to translate.

Here's what the inside looks like. All original, just needed to be cleaned and new foam in the front seat backs.

looks to me like an odd setup for the cooling system... if i remember correctly those cars have only one speed for the fans right? = high :)

what is in the front of the engine bay?  the a/c condensor?

The tranny is an VAG 089 E mode. Whereby it has an added position on the selctor labled E. It is a coaster system which disengages the tranny, drops the rpms and coasts until load is felt and the syetem kicks back into drive mode. I keep in D to have the engine torque at hand.

It is a twin rad system with the AC rad in front. Both have single stage fans with an after-run cooling circuit. Oil cooler is part of main plumbing.
