ok, this is a technical draw from the Saab sale.

after installing the gasket it was leaking even more, tried to make the flange more flat myself but finely i machined the gasket and now its up and running.
this is the metal gasket about 0,5mm height. as you can see this is a GM gasket, its becouse its the same engine & turbo.

this is my manifold, a home made spacer with a EGT probe in and the turbo on (dont look to the vnt controller, it have to make again)

i did a run and some feul quick adjustments.
the vanes are full open all the time, i had between 1200-1400°F, boost start coming on 2200 in 3-4th gear, with 3000rpm you have 0,5bar (no quick response) i had 1bar on 4000rpm. there is a little peak when it run a little bit fast. till now my T2 was much better.

i need to shim my main spring in my pump becouse max rpm is 4700-4800rpm in all gears. with 4500rpm i think the boost is almost gone becouse the feul cut is there.

the car run like 11-12seconds to 60milles/h 100km/h.

it have a 2,5" exhaust, its very loud and a open air filter.
there is a lot of sound comming to the exhaust, (i rather have a silent car), there is turbowissle, very cool but i dont know how good this is.

i hope to give better feedback soon when vnt control and better feuling is there.

today i did the governermod (i gived it some preload to the main spring).

i drove and its realy go fast, alltough i cant say how fast...
after going to 5500rpm i looked to my turbogauge and it was only showing 1,25bar, when i stepped of the pedal it wa still there, my boost gauge blowed (scale max is 1bar).
becouse i was idiot enough i folowed my feelings and boosted again, i drove on the highway, there was no need becouse it was still give good perfomance but on +-180km/h@6000rpm i shift to my 5th gear. i have no idea what pressure i was making but the a hose fly off my turbo (bov sound). i stopped to put it on again but i noticed there was some water around my watertank... broken headgasket.

i gonna install a new headgasket, and a good boost gauge.

Greetz, Benjamin

edit, in fact i did one gtech but it was my first run with the new settings, shifted to low in rpm range, i did 0-60miles/h in 8,34sec. i know its slow but to shift that bad and no vnt controller i think it was pretty good. i didnt the 400meter, to bad. but it realy was a great time! governermod is awsome! i could rev higher if you feel the perfomance on 6000rpm but i dont dare to do that becouse i wanna save my conrods and pistons.

with the vane controller positioned like that don't forget to install a heat shield to protect it :)

The allen heads are not reatining anything but themselves. I'm quite sure they are machining plugs for the internal oil gallery that starts from the supply port on the bottom and lubricated the center bearing stick from above.
I tried to get one off but the flats were just sheared off when I hit them with the impact socket driver
The center section is one piece cast/machined I don't know what those could be used for apart from the explaination above --^

treu, it is problebly the same. 2446 his vnt17 was also with this center.
i ordered in a Saab garage, but they gave my the gasket with GM on it.
i think you can ask for the number on the picture, but just go in the garage from wich brand the turbo original came from and ask for the gasket. Or go to saab, renault, opel (gm), and ask for the gasket from a 3.0td with 177hp from 2005.

cant wait to boost again

You must be pushing alot of fuel through your engine to get that much boost on a big turbo with the vanes open. What is the A/R on the GT2559V's turbine?

My GT2256V will barely hit 0.76bar (12psi) at 4800rpm (3.0L engine) with the vanes fixed open.

0,63 is the compressor (inlet)
0,45 or 0,49 is the exhaust side.

the EGT on full boost was something like 1200F.

I hope to get that head off today and take a look to my cilinderwalls.

the head is off, the cilinderwalls look like 7000km back when it was stock, you can see the honing, no vertical stipes or so.

but i think for shure the headgasket is not blowed, i saw on my cilinderwalls 2drips, so if i go look very very close, i see 2 little holes in the cilinderwall    its very little, like a couple 1/10mm. i try to take pictures. i dont think its becouse of the high rpm or (big?) boost or egt. i think its becouse of a fault from fabric maybe but problebly its from corosion or so.

That's for the GT2559V? That seems awfully small. Even my GT2256V has a 0,64 A/R on the exhaust side.

treu, it was like that for a vnt20 or maybe my stock turbo, i searched for the details again:

turbine housing A/R.64, compressor housing A/R.61
compressor inlet diameter 65mm / outlet 45mm
turbine inlet diameter 42mm / outlet 46mm
