I have a few problems with my 86 golf 1.6NA
« on: November 10, 2006, 10:19:17 am »
Frist off i have a nice fuel leak on it.I replaced the front seal on IP but now the pump is leaking right where the pump body and block where fuel lines meet. What can i do about this?ALso my alt belt is still give me some problems.I think it is the alt pully it's self it ate away at the out side edge of the belt to where it would not longer seat right on the pully.I think it might be due to the fact the pully has rust on it.Thanks for any help

If you are brave there are seal kits available on ebay, as well as here http://www.emiata.com/DieselVW/

Try removing the belt and manually spinning the accesories, maybe one is partially siezed causing the belt to spin over it nd chewing it up?

on my old 86 jetta i had to use a pry bar and give a good tug on the alternator... made it real nice and tight (maybe too tight... i dunno but at least the belt wouldn't be rubbing)

i think that year cars are prone to alt problems... could be the bracket?
