What happened in this post:
http://vwdiesel.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=528Now, my car tends to idle faster. What normally would be a cold idle w/out handle @ ~900 is now ~950. What normally would be a cold idle w/handle @ ~1000 is now ~1050. And my normal warm-engine idle was ~1000, is now 1050, sometimes 1100.
Any ideas?

You didn't by chance happen to change the alternator belt recently. If the belt was thinner and fit deeper into the pulley, it would read at a higher rpm. Vice-versa, if the belt was wider, it would rider further out from the center spinning the alternater slower. I realise that you just had your fuel tank flushed out , due to the gasoline fill up, but I would hate to see you chasing ghosts. I recently had this problem concerning my belt. That is why I mention it. Reading what happenned with the fuel issue, personally I wouldn't be that worried. Seeing as you never ran the engine on the gasoline at all, I really don't see how any of it would get into the fuel filter(let alone the engine) unless it wasn't all drained out. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if your owners manual mentions running some gasoline during the (cold) winter months, to prevent fuel gelling. Best of luck!

Where do you reside?
Has the weather turned cold where you are? The cold tends to increase fuel density. Increased fuel density leads to a slighly greater injected quantity and a slightly higher cold idle.
hi all,
thanks for the tips.
no, i havent replaced the alt belt, although I do have to soon.
and quick, yes it has turned cold here in calgary, probably for the first time since last spring.
i guess i'm being paranoid about the 'gas' thing.
rico
ive heard stories about truck racers putting lots of petrol (gasoline) in their diesel to clean out fuel system, up to the point where revving the engine results in a long plume of flames shooting from the exhaust pipe...
wouldnt reccommend it though
