I have a 2000TDI, I wanted to change my transmisson oil, is this possible? I hear the transmissions are sealed. My car is a 5 speed, does this use automatic fuild or regualur fluid?

I'm almost 100% sure that VW recommends 75W90 GL-5 synthetic gear oil.  It's definitely gear oil and not ATF.  I've heard of folks using Redline MTL with good luck.

Some VW transmissions have a funky drain plug - MetalNerd sells the tool if your car needs it.  I bought one a while back...it was cheap.  The fill plug is behind a steel P/S line on the front side of the tranny.  When refilling - keep dumping the fluid in until it comes out of the fill hole.
