rabbit TD i'm workin' on.

Work continues on this same 81 TD rabbit i've posted about recently.
Unfortunately (in one sense) the cylinder head failed. The now-bankrupted Future Cylinderhead in Quebec did an aweful job on the overhaul. They oversized and sleeved the lifter bores, which isn't unusual. But when the sleeves migrate out of the bores and the cam lobes cut slots in them, it's unusual. Junk! Lousy mickey-mouse useless numbskull twits! There isn't much that pisses me off more than low quality workmanship. -END RANT-
The upside was, the head had to come off. I located a new casting, and performed a (if I were to name it) Stage 2 port & polish. I also gasket matched the intake manifold, intake ports and the intake manifold's elbow.

Quickie background: 1.9L AAZ T2 turbo, homebrew gated boost controller, 14psi, 2.5" mandrel exhaust, custom downpipe, low restriction intake.

The results, peak hp remained the same. The 0-60, however improved and the q-mile & mph improved.
Butt-dyno wise, the boost comes on even faster. In 5th gear, it out accelerated a mazda 6 in 3rd gear at 80km/h. Truly a torque monster!

They're not my tires, so I only tried it once, but it'll rip off a 2nd gear burnout like a kid on a bigwheel!

The car is clearly screaming for a giles pump. the fun thing is, it's only running 14psi unintercooled, on a 95% stock pump.
I repair, maintain and modify VW's and BMW's.
Good work done at affordable rates. Welding and fabricating, too.
Performance Diesel Injection's Super Pump: gotta have one!

I got a 1.6D Caddy, 54hp of throbbing power, 265 thousand miles on it's back, uber reliable, I want to TD it but Im loathed to take the engine out, as it's so good! I know it can't last forever, and could do with a bit more poke so I may just dod the governer spring mod thingy instead to keep me occupied for a while!
For some bizzare reason I want to see if a G60 will mate up to a 1.6D with a 4 branch exhaust manifold, and see what that does, I havn't heard of a supercharged 1.6D yet.
    :D

I see no reason why a G60 wouldn't bolt up. They are both 8vs and I've heard of the G60 exhaust mani being used on NA engines (gas) for better flow

you need all custom bracketry to put the G60 on. The injection pump and hard fuel lines all interfere with the stock pieces. That's without even beginning to think about alternator mounting, and serpentine belt tensioning.
