Injector burn out
« on: October 16, 2006, 07:22:49 am »
Hi all...

How long, do you think, a "streaming" injector will take to do some serious damage??  100's of miles?? 1000's??

I've got 3 good ones and 1 completely knackered... have to wait a couple of weeks for new ones to arrive... (cheaper than rebuild...)
Seems to run OK... (if it's not over revving...)

Drive or not drive... ('83 transporter with '87? Audi CS engine...)

I wouldn't drive it. If fuel isn't going in something isn't getting lubricated, and if fuel is going all over the place, you run the risk of doing serious internal damage on that cylinder.

OK thanks, I've put a set of good but old turbo injectors in to see me thru until my new set arrives...

Runs OK, maybe a bit noisy, but as it's 4 months since I've run the van I can't really remember what it used to be like.
