Low water indicator

My light has started blinking at random times and as the coolant is very important I want to eliminate the false alarms.  It seemed to work good until I changed coolant and I put the blue VW antifreeze in with a little water wetter.  Is this mixture some how not conductive or is there some other trick to make this work?  Anybody else have this problem?

im having this problem as well, I just though that the level sensor in the expansion tank went bad so I was going to replace the tank.

Try washing the tank out with hot water and dish soap. Have seen it jam before with contaminants from the cooling sytem only to be freed up by washing. You will probably have to remove the expansion tank to your laundry room sink to do this properly.

did this today, still get the low coolant light but using an sos pad on the outside really cleans it up, now I can actually see how much coolant is in there.

This is a common problem on the Quantum cars, from what I understand, common enough for it to be labelled the "Infamous Blinking Light" (IBL).

One member on another board/list traced the source of the IBL to an intermittantly faulty ground connection; he cleaned the connection, put a little dielectric on it, and hasn't had a false blinker since.

I think it is the connection, after cleaning it the third time I realized there shouldn't be any coolant making it's way to that spot and I am trying to seal it up.
