I have an '81 Rabbit. My injection pump has a leak from the return. I'm not sure if it just needs new seal or a rebuild or what. The previous owner was running it on biodiesel so I'm thinking it might have worn down the seals.
Anyway, so I need to either put new seals on the current IP or put in a new rebuilt IP. The problem is I haven't really done any work on injenction pumps or diesel engines. I'm wondering how difficult it would be to try to redo the seals myself having not done it before and just following some written instructions, and how difficult it would be to just take the old IP out and put another one on.
At this point, it seems the easiest thing to do would be to get a new IP and have someone else switch the two, but I'm trying to do this as cheap as possible, and the more I can learn about the mechanics of my vehicle the better.
