I SHIFT AROUND 4400 oops caps
this ach box is a little short,i blew my 7a box
so just get it in top gear as fast as ya can,and let the torque pull ya
i was hittin that jump at like 75 mph or so..........
it bulls like a train from 2200 to 4000 or so
i wanna build a 7a box with a 3.67 so it can really stretch its legs
right now its sort of like an idi td with a close ratio box,i need more gear
1st is useless, dont even bother gettin on it
and thats all wheelspin,not clutchslip

im thinkin somethin like my old 7a box with a 3.67 will help out the gearing a bunch
it needs to stay in that sweet spot between 2000-4400
even with that short box,and all that stupid shiftin, itll still cut mid 14's 1/4 mile times

cool man. i just shoved a gasser tranny i think its a acn with a 3.67 r/p and it works amazing. of course with a 1.6 its hard to get off the line when your driving through the city well i mean harder than the 3.94 r/p. great gaering and now i have wicked to speed i can hit like 195 at 4500 now, it will pull to like 5700 rpm in 5th but im scared of these tires so i havnt done it yet.

hey hilfolk have you ever thought of double shifting if you have that much torque? it may work out well. maybe give it a try and let us know.

yea i can shift 1to3 to5
or 1-2,then 4th then 5th
that one works good,it likes to pull that way
gotta build a better geared box still though
basically i use 1st to get it rollin off the line, then i can go for 2nd immediately

Hilfolk, why don't you just install an 02a/02j, and be done with it. 020 trannys are horrible at holding any high torque applications, and none of them have gearing which compliments the TDI powerband characteristics.
I imagine an 02a/02j  tdi tranny would get you alot closer to the 13's as well.

Since you guys seem to cross reference trannys, which tranny can I put in an 81 diesel rabbit? Are there any newer models that are suitable with a high 5th gear?

cause i can use my 6 pound flywheel, and the clutch assy is way lighter, thats why i dont wanna convert to a later box just yet

that tdi flywheel weighs as much as a normal (210mm)clutch assy i bet
im lookin at putting a 3.67 r+p in a 7A box
that will help out gearing quite a bit
oh yea ,,cant forget the diff rivet bolt kit too
i like the way it spins up now,,like no flywheel mass, its great fun!!!
