slipping clutch...need ideas on clutch set up

i have a 94 1.9L TD
don't know what the tranny is. i bought this car when it had 190,000 KM on it, now it has 215,000km. i did the fuel screw and boost pin (50% groove) mod and the car slips in all gears when pushing. the funny thing is... sometimes it slips really bad and sometimes it does not.
i have read the past post on clutch set up but don't understand 8v...16v anything??? don't know much about VW. Please help!!! need to know what will fit and please don't use 8v or 16v terms...
thanks in advance

haha, yeah modded engines+stock clutches=slippage, when people are talking about 8v and 16v clutches, they mean the 16 valve motor found in golf gtis, jetta gli's and scirocco 16'vs. it has a bigger clutch and flywheel and pressureplate. the 16v setup is for a motor that makes more power and is more high performance so some people like to use it, but honestly if i was doing a clutch upgrade i would go with some aftermarket, rather than something designed for an engine with 130hp and 130 ft lbs

good point - thanks for the reply !
Does the year of the car make a difference? i think the new vw (mk4+) don't have a "pot" flywheel setup.
i don't know if the afftermarket stuff will make the pedal feel more stiff... mine is already stiff. any suggestions on aftermarket brand and setup?
thanks

Ya, I vote yes for the clutchnet.com kit. I just put a 6 puck red disk and red pressure plate in mine 1.9TD. Makes for a touchy clutch but isn't really a stiffer pedal. Feels a little different but not stiffer on average I guess. Double straps, doesn't slip, definately a tough clutch.

yea mines the 4 puck, they said its ceramic lining,it doenst chatter/grab ad bad as a copper one
i got the "red" setup,with a 4 puck
i think it engages nicely, and is manageable in the street, hey when ya start moking power ya gotta comprise a little somewhere
my setup was 375 shipped to my door, hey ya wanna play, you will haveta pay
i think thats still cheaper than some sachs sport setup, which probably wouldnt have the holding power the clutchnet setup had
yea clutchnet.com

NICE !!!!!
i live in canada...so it's going to be $400+, but still it's worth it. i think i am going to go with the yellow PP and the ceramic disc. what do u guys think?
i wish they would have some estimated holding capacity numbers for each setup.

Just get the red kit, I don't think the price is much different, but you'll never have to do it again; regardless of what else you do to your engine.

$$400+ ouch. Call Dave @ Passenger Performance and get him to send you out his 16V pressure plate and 4puck clutch combo. It's listed in the vendor's section right now for $170 CDN shipped.
http://www.vwdiesel.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=4961
I have run this combo, I know some one with a 220whp 16vt running this combo. Mark (malone) ran that combo in his Franken motor (175whp 1.6 / 1.9 Hybrid) That clutch handles more power then the 020 transmission. I know from experiance I broke three 020's in a 2 month stretch and used the same clutch.
I have run 4 differn't clutchnet setup's and they were all very good clutch's but IMHO not worth the $400+ in comparrison.

well i got the red one
but i had a core plug leak back there a few weeks ago ,so it oiled my clutchnet setup
i fixed the leak, but needed to put in the "210 4 puck" i got from dave, while my clutchnet disc is out for a relining, thats temporary though
i dont wanna upset dave or nothin but i noticed one thing
his 4 puck was smaller around than the 210 from clutchnet
it looks like a 200mm
it rides in a totally different spot
dave may wanna check this out
the clutchnet disc rides right out to the edge of the flywheel surface,as daves has like a 5mm(at least) gap around it
and clutchnet had a ceramic lining, and seemed to engage nicer than daves 4 puck, which i think is copper
that sucker is chattery when its cold, the clutchnet?ah not so chattery
dave i love ya man,but that may be some things to check out
oh the clutchnet sprung center is huge and beefier too
it coulda been, though, that he didnt realize i had a 210,and he sent me a 200,which still works though..i dunno....i havent asked him, maybe he will see this and answer

BTW while on this topic, does anyone know the flywheel step height of the 200/210mm flywheel in the "gasser(16v)" application in case it differs from the diesel height,Thanks.
