Slightly modifed christmas story. (wrong season i know)
« on: September 21, 2006, 07:53:08 pm »
> T'was the night before Christmas and caught at the
>light,
> Was a Volkswagen Diesel and no cops in sight,
> I will try, I will try,
> I will try with this small motor,
> To beat this damn VW, even with it's big blower,
> As light goes green and I pull like no joke,
> The VW erupts in clouds of tire smoke,
> Now Smasher, now Rev-ver, now Stroker, now Blitzin,
> These are the names of my four VTEC pistons,
> Racing ahead I'm the Star of the action,
> But I know I'm in trouble when that 1.6 gets
>traction,
> Grabbing second, I hear the RPMs sing,
> My mirror is blocked by my shopping cart wing,
> I now hear the roar, of that big monster gaining,
> All I can do is keep that four-banger straining,
> In a second, the shockwave hits with a blast,
> And my stickers go flying now, a thing of the past,
> Don't bother with third, cause now it's too late,
> Just try to act cool, like you can relate,
> Looking up at the taillights as they get smaller,
> The driver backs off just to give me a holler,
> "You can't win them all," he says in fling,
> "You may not win any, in that silly thing"
> I smiled and revved as he pulled out of sight,
> With my new mods tomorrow...it will be a better
>night.

well it would definetly quickly evacuate any piston or other internal parts out the oil pan maybe have a big air duct off the oil pan pointing towards the rear of the car so you can be propelled by the pressure.

that would be sweet!!

Actually today in class i was talking with a buddy about alternative fuel. And since we are learning microwave systems right now i came up with the bright idea of using microwaves to heat up water to produce steam for power. But then you'd want batteries, and you charge those you'll need a little generator, so by the end we had a gas driven, battery powered, microwave driven steam car.  I call it the "Uberhybrid"

howzabout a helicopter turbine engine? they usually start around 400 hp and take up roughly the same space as your transmission. They'll run quite happily on diesel, and i suppose you could call it a turbo... Anyone want to race my TURBO DIESEL?? HEH  HEH  HEH....

My vote is for a P&W turboshaft engine from the dash 8, 2000+ shaft hp, even with the reduction box it's no larger than a chevy V8. The 10" exhaust pipe might be a problem though, passenger seat would have to go...

mmmm, turbine powered.  listen to the sound of it spooling up as the traffic light changes, picture the shimmers of heat in the mirror from the 10" exhaust.  The only soot behind you is from the melting plastic grill on the car behind.  The guys on Harleys two lanes over have their hands over their ears.  The blown Camaro in the next lane launches hard and pulls away, 2 seconds later all he can remember is the flicker of blue in the exhaust and the wall of heat and sound going past.

Jay Leno's column on Popularmechanics.com has an article about a turbine powered bike he has.  evidently he did melt some guys bumper that was crowding him at a light!
