Possible to find .38 AR turbine housing w/ standard T3 flang
« on: September 12, 2006, 08:32:18 pm »
Yeah...an oddball question but probably a good one. Not wanting to use the standard "trapzoid" flange on the standard 1.6TD Garrett T3 unit if I mess with one this winter....would rather go with the standard 4 bolt rectangular T3 flange...  anyone know of any stock applications out there running the same hot side turbine size as the 1.6TD but with the standard T3 inlet flange? Or even better...place to buy them...without a wastegate !!! :) Open to ideas, or thoughts of where they could be found!

The turbo from a BMW524TD has a .36 A/R and a standard T3 4 bolt flange, but it has a wastegate (the "normal" style with a remote actuator) and a larger than normal outlet flange. As I recall the stock VW T3 has a .36 A/R as well. The BMW turbo has a 45 trim compressor, I don't know what the VW T3 is but its considerably smaller.
