tensioner installation
« on: September 25, 2004, 09:36:54 pm »
I want to install a new timing belt tensioner in my 88 TD Jetta.  Does anyone know what torque the tensioner bolt is done to?  Is it possible to just clamp the timing belt on the camshaft and injection pump pulleys, remove the old tensioner, install new tensioner, retension belt and then start up the engine, or will I disturb the timing doing this making it necessary to re-time the engine from scratch?

Thanks

Chris
