Hey guys, I just got a brand new TDI short block and I want to make it a mechanical TDI, the problem is that I dont have a TDI injection pump anymore to use for parts and the TDI head that I have needs a cam, new valves and lifters.
so here is what I have for sale or trade in the spare parts bin
brand new 1.9 TDI bare Block
3 brand new 1.9 TDI pistons on rods with rings (you only need one more)
brand new 1.9 TDI crankshaft needs a real good polish from surface rust from sitting
I also have the balance shaft for the block
What I need is
TDI distributor head and camplate, or complete mechanical TDI pump
possibly good working order TDI head with Cam or a good cam and valves
Let me know guys, I am willing to sell or trade but would prefer to trade parts for parts.

Is this an ALH or an AHU/1Z? I'm kinda thinking about the block if it's an AHU/1Z.
how do I tell? I am sure that there is a casting # somewhere on the block that will tell me.

Well, does it use an internal water pump or does it have the spot for the external on the front where it would nromally be on an older engine (like a 1.6). If you had a picture I could also tell you.

I think that it is the AHU/1Z, since my assembled shortblock has the sticker on it for that and its the same as the bare block. plus when looking at it I am almost positive it takes the older style water pump. I will let you know later tonight for sure since I snapped some pictures.
If it has frost plugs it's AHU/1Z, if it doesn't it's ALH.
it defineately has frost plugs so its a AHU/1Z
